Diverse cultural events to serve locals and tourists

The Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports has issued a list of nearly 30 cultural and arts activities to be held in the city on the occasion of April 30 and May 1.

On April 30 alone, a wide array of diverse indoor and outdoor arts programmes will be organised, including street dance and music programmes, and magic shows, along both banks of the Han River; a general arts programme at the expanded APEC Sculpture Park; and the Rap Show concert at the Tien Son Sports Arena.

Along with that, Vietnamese national flags, banners, panels and more have been decorated along major streets, helping the city look fresh and vibrant as well as creating a joyful atmosphere for locals and tourists during the country's big holiday.

Mrs. Phan Thi Kim Oanh, a resident of Son Tra District, expressed her excitement at a serious of cultural and entertainment activities in the city, most of which are free-of-charge, during this year’s April 30 and May 1 holiday.

According to the municipal Department of Tourism, Da Nang is expected to see a surge in tourist arrivals over the upcoming holiday. From April 29 to May 3, there will be about 400 flights, bringing a total of 58,720 passengers, to Da Nang, most of which are domestic tourists.

Therefore, the organisation of large-scale cultural and entertainment programmes and events plays an important role in contributing to leaving a good impression on visitors.

Le Nhu Tuan, a tourist from Binh Duong Province, said that his family’s trip to Da Nang would last about a week. Before that, his family learned about the upcoming cultural and tourism activities in Da Nang through the media agencies and social networks to prepare a suitable schedule.

“It is a pleasure to know that Da Nang will host many exciting activities, programmes and festivals on this occasion. We are looking forward to experiencing the city's typical cultural and tourism products, especially the opening activities of the Da Nang Beach Tourism Season programme and the street arts programme", underlined Tuan.

A special art programme entitled ‘March-City and You’ was held on Tuesday evening on Bach Dang Street, Da Nang, to celebrate the 47th anniversary of the liberation of Da Nang (March 29, 1975-2022).

Quality of programmes ensured

In recent days, the preparatory works for the upcoming events and programmes have been basically completed.

Many units have started organising a number of cultural programmes to serve local residents ahead of the holiday.

For instance, the Da Nang Fine Arts Museum is hosting an arts exhibition themed ‘Convergence of colors’ until May 20 to serve the art-loving public.

Visitors to the Museum of Da Nang on April 29 and 30 will have the opportunity to experience a walking tour entitled ‘Following the footsteps of the liberation army’.

Mr. Tran Van Chuan, Head of the Education - Communications Office of the Da Nang Museum, said that the free walking tour would help local residents and tourists understand more about the struggle for the nation’s independence and freedom visually and vividly through the journey of discovering a number of historical relic sites in the city under the guidance of museum guides.

“This is the museum's attempt to refresh itself to attract more visitors to the museum in order to learn about the city's cultural and historical relic sites" said Mr.Chuan.

In addition to the municipal-level major events, localities have actively carried out many cultural activities to meet the growing entertainment needs of residents.

Specifically-mentioned are the ‘Ngay Hoi Non Song’ Festive Day in Hai Chau District on April 23, a musical show in Thanh Khe District on April 26, an art programme and photo exhibition entitled ‘Memories of a fishing village’ in Son Tra District on April 29, and a musical programme entitled ‘Viet Nam's beauty’ in Cam Le District on April 28.

According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Thi Hoi An, in an effort to ensure the quality of activities and programmes on the occasion of April 30 and May 1, the department will arrange suitable locations and spaces for planned events.

Besides, the department will coordinate and allow event organisers to organise high quality and impressive programmes in the city in order to create a joyful and buoyant atmosphere and meet the entertainment needs of the public.
