Da Nang increases investment in culture and arts

In the second half of 2022, the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports will continue to organise annual special cultural events and festivals, with a focus on kicking off grassroots cultural activities.

In tandem with that, attention will be paid to accelerating the progress of key projects such as the restoration and embellishment of national monuments, especially Phase 2 of the restoration of the Dien Hai Citadel special national relic site, the rebuilding of the Da Nang Museum at 42 Bach Dang and the restoration of Hai Van Gate national historical relic and architecture site.

The above-mentioned tasks were identified at a meeting held on Thursday by the municipal Department of Culture and Sports and the Culture and Social Affairs Board of the municipal People's Council.

The whole cultural industry has focused on implementing recovery activities after the COVID-19 pandemic in many flexible and active forms.

Also for the rest of this year, the municipal Department of Culture and Sports recommends the municipal People's Council to increase investment in literature and arts to develop creative activities, create space and conditions for the development of young talents in the fields of culture and arts, arrange funding sources to ensure the implementation of projects already promulgated in the field of culture, and recommend the national government to promulgate a Decree stipulating the autonomy mechanism of public non-business units in the fields of culture, sports and tourism.

At the meeting, members of the Culture and Social Affairs Board of the municipal People's Council presented opinions on a number of cultural issues of concern such as the progress of construction and renovation of typical works such as the expansion of the Hoa Vang Cemetery, Ngu Hanh Son Cultural Park, the restoration and embellishment of Dien Hai Citadel Phase 2 and Hai Van Gate, the adjustments of the outdoor advertisement planning scheme in the city until 2020, with a vision towards 2030.

For the recommendations of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports, the Culture and Social Affairs Board will submit them to the municipal Council for consideration at the next meeting.
