National Rowing and Canoeing Championships 2022 ends in Da Nang

The National Rowing and Canoeing Championships 2022 for all clubs nationwide concluded on Friday morning on the Dong Nghe Lake, Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District, Da Nang.

After a week of exciting and fierce competition, the Ho Chi Minh City Team took lead in the canoeing competition with 8 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals. They were followed by Thai Nguyen with 7 gold, 6 silver and 3 bronze medals, and Quang Ninh with 5 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals.

Meanwhile, the Da Nang team finished in fifth place when they won 4 gold, 1 silver and 7 bronze medals.

In the rowing competition, Ha Tinh was ranked first after grabbing 4 gold and 4 silver medals.

Hai Duong came second with 4 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals, whilst third place went to Ho Chi Minh City with 3 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze medals.

With 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals, Da Nang came in fourth place in the whole team.

This year's tournament attracted 411 male and female athletes from 26 provinces and cities nationwide.

Rowing has 20 events for men and women, with 2,000m in singles, doubles and quadruples.

Canoeing comprises 36 events for men and women for Canoes and Kayaks with distances of 200m, 500m, 1,000m in singles, doubles and quadruples.

The tournament provided an opportunity for sports units to evaluate their training and coaching work, and for athletes to improve their skills and gain practical experience, in preparation for the 9th National Sports Games which is scheduled to take place at the end of this year in Quang Ninh Province.
