Keep the fire of performing arts passion on the stage
Although most artistes in Da Nang's theatres have not originated from families with artistic traditions, they are still determined to pursue and dedicate their love to this field. Not only does that intense passion help them succeed in their careers, but it also motivates them to stick with the profession, and dedicate themselves to spreading the fire to the next generation of young artists.

Tireless efforts
If you have the opportunity to watch the rehearsals at Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theater, it is not difficult to see an artist with a petite figure and gentle face, who is focusing on observing and adjusting each move for the performers. That is Meritorious Artist Phan Van Quang, who has spent nearly 30 years attaching to the art of traditional Tuong.
As shared by Meritorious Artist Phan Van Quang, no one in his family followed the artistic path, but he especially loved forms of Vietnamese theatre such as Cai Luong or Boi. After a long time pursuing art studying, he became the main actor in Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theater with many successful roles.
“Traditional art in general and Tuong, in particular, are very picky about both followers and viewers. Besides, the income of this profession is not high, so I would not have been able to live with the profession without passion and hard work,” said Mr Phan Van Quang.
In 2016, he completed a directing class at the Hanoi Academy of Theater and Cinema, partly fulfilling his dream of becoming a director to contribute to the Tuong theatre. Since then, he has focused on staging many plays, quality excerpts for the theatre, guiding, supporting, and imparting performance experience to the next generations of artists and actors.
He shared: “Although I am in a different role, I must constantly learn and find ways to improve the quality of the plays to continue to develop the profession. Fortunately, the current generations of artists and actors in the theatre are very talented, passionate and dedicated to the profession. Therefore, I believe that in the future, the activities of the Tuong theatre will become more and more developed, and the art of Tuong will come closer to the public."
Devoting themselves to the arts
Singer Nguyen Duc Vu working at Trung Vuong Theatre is a popular name among artistes and audiences in Da Nang thanks to his beautiful voice and positive energy. His path to singing was also very coincidental when he only loved to sing and knew how to sing. However, his love for music motivated him to pursue a career in the performing arts.
His forte music is revolutionary music and music with soft music. During his career, singer Duc Vu has participated in hundreds of shows and tours of Trung Vuong Theater in many provinces and cities. At the same time, he has won a number of high awards at music festivals and competitions.
His talent has been recognized by his colleagues and the audience, but what is surprising is that in nearly 20 years of singing activities, singer Duc Vu has been currently making a debut music product called "Hearts comfort hearts", which is expected to be released in late 2022 because he was so caught up in the whirlpool of work at the theatre that he even forgot to do his own production.
Singer Duc Vu has still kept trying, exceeded his own limits and dared to try himself in new aspects. At the same time, he told himself that he would devote all his heart to bringing everything he had learned during his career to teach young people for the greater goal of developing Trung Vuong Theater and the city's musical activities.
In addition to Meritorious Artist Phan Van Quang, and singer Duc Vu, there are a host of other artistes who are still persistent, diligently nurturing their passion and dedication to the young generation. Their silent works are multiplying day by day in the young generation's love for the arts and contributing to the development of the city's performing arts career.
