Da Nang player Nguyen Thuy Linh won the title of champion of the Da Nang International Badminton Tournament 2022 which took place at the Da Nang-based Tien Son Sports Arena and ended on Sunday afternoon.

Nguyen Thuy Linh imposed her status as favourite in the women’s singles event after beating her compatriot senior Vu Thi Trang in two sets (21-15, 21-9) during the final.

Vu Thi Trang competed with great effort, but her youth and understanding of her seniors’ strengths and weaknesses helped Nguyen Thuy Linh developed an appropriate playing style and master the game. In the first game, Thuy Linh won by a margin of 6 points (21-15), but in the second game, the native Phu Tho player played more “explosively” and won by a margin of 21-9.

Nguyen Thuy Linh defeated Senior Vu Thi Trang and deserved to be crowned champion of the Da Nang International Badminton Tournament. Thuy Linh has an impressive string of international successes with the Belgian International Championship in September, Viet Nam Open winner in October, runner-up at the Australian International Tournament in October, and first place at the Da Nang International Championship in November.

Nguyen Thuy Linh is also the only Vietnamese badminton player to be crowned at the Da Nang International Badminton Tournament.

In the men’s branch, the Chinese Liu Liang occupied the main step by comfortably disposing of his compatriot Lei Lan Xi.

The first place in men’s doubles went to the Chinese Chen Bo Yang and Liu Yi, who defeated Filipinos Bernardo and Morada.

The Chinese Li Yi Jing and Xu Min won the highest honours in women’s doubles, after beating the Vietnamese Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan and Than Van Anh.

The mixed double went to the Chinese Zhen Bang and Yaxin, who beat their compatriot duo made up of Cheng Xing and Fang Hui.

The total prize pool for the tournament was US$5,000. In which, the winners of the the tournament took home US$ 400 while the runners-up took US$ 200 USD.

The Da Nang International Badminton Tournament 2022 was co- organised by the Badminton World Federation (BWF), the Badminton Asia (BA), the Viet Nam Badminton Federation (VBF), the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, plus the Da Nang Badminton Federation. The tournament attracted a combined total of 258 badminton players from 15 countries and territories around the world.
