Brocade weaving of Co Tu ethnic group
The Department of Cultural Heritages under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports and the Hoa Vang District authorities to organise a programme to display and demonstrate the heritage of brocade weaving of the Co Tu ethnic group on Saturday.

The programme featured an exhibition showcasing 52 photos of brocade weaving, and products and tools of weaving, captured by the Co Tu ethnic minority people.
Also, visitors to the programme had the opportunity to enjoy the on-site performances of brocade weaving and Tung tung-ya ya dance. There was a screening of two short films about heritage connecting 2 communities.
The programme was part of the heritage model project associated with tourism itineraries to develop communities of ethnic minorities sharing similarities in heritages in order to form destinations in the heritage tourism journey in regional, inter-provincial or inter-regional scale.
Under the project, Vietnamese localities whose share the similarities in heritages of ethnic minorities are selected for connection. In which, brocade weaving of Co Tu ethnic people in Da Nang’s Hoa Vang District and Quang Nam Province’s Dong Giang District is selected to implement the project associated with the Quang Nam - Da Nang travel itinerary.
From November 8 - 9, the Department of Cultural Heritages coordinated with the municipal Department of Culture and Sports and the Hoa Vang District authorities to organise a training course on heritage models connected with tourism itineraries to promote the development of ethnic minorities sharing the similarities in heritages for the Co Tu people in Hoa Vang District.
The Co Tu ethnic minority people preserve valuable traditional cultural elements in a relatively intact way, including brocade weaving and costumes.
Each brocade product created by the Co Tu ethnic minority people is valuable in many ways. Such a product looks like a work of arts, containing many quintessence and aesthetic values, and showing unique features in the national cultural treasure.
