Da Nang to offer an array of arts programs for New Year and Lunar New Year 2023

Theaters and music performance units in Da Nang are preparing amazing art programs to serve local residents and tourists during New Year and Lunar New Year holidays 2023.

Apart from film screening, the Da Nang Culture and Movie Centre will offer 3 arts programs to celebrate New Year 2023, before and during Lunar New Year 2023. Included are one entitled ‘Welcome in New Year 2023’ to be held on January 1, 2023, an art talent competition entitled ‘Spring and Youth’, and a  musical night to welcome the Lunar New Year’s arrival with the theme ‘ The Homeland Spring ‘.

Artist Nguyen Cuong from the Da Nang Culture and Movie Centre said that arts programs for New Year and Lunar New Year 2023 promise to be special and amazing with folk and contemporary music genres suitable to all ages, especially young people.

“The Da Nang Culture and Movie Centre has produced an abundance of innovations in arts programs for New Year and Lunar New Year 2023 to meet the entertainment needs of local people and tourists after 2 years of the COVID-19 pandemic. In particular, this year's art talent competition will encourage contestants to use musical instruments made from recycled materials to raise awareness on environmental protection among young people," said Mr. Cuong.

Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong (Classical Drama) Theater’s artistes are working hard to launch new plays and year-end arts programs.

Mr Nguyen Thanh Phuong, the Deputy Director of the Nguyen Hien Dinh Tuong Theater said that the two arts programs named ‘Vietnamese soul’ and "Han River Sediment" are ready to serve the public for New Year and Lunar New Year 2023. These programs feature excerpts from classical plays, folk and contemporary dance performances in praise of the homeland and recreation of traditional festivals.

In addition, the classical drama theater will stage a new play named ‘Unjust Love’ and old ones such as ‘Lam Sanh Xuan Nuong’, and "Thoai Khanh Chau Tuan". These plays are in praise of patriotism, filial piety and fidelity in marriage to overcome difficult circumstances.

“Local residents and tourists can enjoy these plays at both the theater and outdoor stages along the both banks of the Han River during New Year and Lunar New Year 2023. The theater’s artistes are working hard to ensure that the best shows will perform in the city to meet entertainment demand from locals and visitors," remarked Mr Phuong.

From now until the end of the year, the Trung Vuong Theater plans to offer 3 arts programs: one to celebrate the 78th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam People's Army and the 33rd All People's Defence Festival (December 22) with the theme "Soldiers’ Love" to be held on December 16, the other themed ‘Full of the Joys of Spring’  to welcome the new year’s arrival to take place at the APEC Sculpture Park on January 1, 2023, and an art program to ring in Lunar New Year to be held on Lunar New Year’s Eve at the east side of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge.

Mr Tran Van Hao, the Director of the Trung Vuong Theater said that this year’s arts programs will be offered on their promise of freshness. For example, the arts program to serve soldiers will be staged in 3 exciting parts with love songs. The remaining programs are also created to like a short film to help the audience enjoy a new and seamless emotional experience.

Mrs Nguyen Thi Hoi An, the Deputy Director of the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, said that the focus will be on arranging performance venues suitable to these events in order to ensure the best possible quality of year-end arts programs for the audience. The importance must be attached to creating a number of arts programs that feature community exchanges to encourage the involvement of local residents and visitors.

In addition, the department will allows businesses that have the capacity to organize cultural events in a bid to create attraction, diversity and novelty in the city’s arts activities, thereby, creating a joyful and buoyant atmosphere in the city and meeting the entertainment demand from the public during the upcoming New Year and Lunar New Year.
