Da Nang artists' efforts to create new and quality literature and art works
Recently, Da Nang has witnessed a strong change in both quantity and quality of literature and art works. Right from the beginning of the year, writers and artists across the city have been making creative efforts to complete unfinished projects, thereby contributing to enriching the local cultural appearance and meeting the increasing demand of the public.

Complete personal projects
Since the beginning of the year, many artists and writers citywide have set their own goals.
For instance, Chairman of the Da Nang Photography Club Huynh Van Truyen is a very active photographer who is constantly present at municipal-level photography events and often travels to localities nationwide to compose.
Thanks to his specific goals, even though the first quarter of 2023 is not yet over, he has already had some new compositions for him to use to participate in this year's photography awards.
Culture is a field that Huynh Van Truyen is particularly interested in, so he is often present at the city's traditional festivals.
Mr. Truyen said that he plans to release a set of photos of the Tuy Loan Village Communal House Festival this year. This set of photos features the most unique activities of the festival that he has directly photographed over the past 3 years.
In addition, he will enhance his compositions about sea, islands and beautiful landscapes of the city to participate in domestic and international photography contests.
“As a child of Da Nang, I always give priority to my compositions about the city. Besides, I make every effort to connect with units to organise more practical composition trips for members of the Da Nang Photography Club. This not only helps them gain more experience in composing, but also spread the image of the city to the public through these works" Mr. Truyen said.
This year, painter Ho Dinh Nam Kha, Chairman of the city’s Fine Arts Association, plans to hold a solo exhibition about silk paintings that he has been cherishing for nearly 3 years. The exhibition, slated to take place in October 2023, will feature 40 pieces of works, including 20 silk paintings and 20 composite works.
Furthermore, painter Nam Kha and some members of the city’s Fine Arts Association will organise a creative camp about the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago this year.
“The municipal Fine Arts Association organises an annual average of 4 or more exhibitions in a bid to enrich artistic activities in the city” painter Kha informed.
Create with passion and enthusiasm
Only entering the second month of 2023, but musician Cao Tam, a member of the Executive Committee of the municipal Music Association, has composed 4 new songs.
“This year, I am determined to complete the project of setting music for 10 famous poems in textbooks. At the same time, I will continue to carry out free online classes on basic and advanced accompaniment for music teachers nationwide, thereby partly helping to improve music education activities in schools” musician Cao Tam remarked.
Meanwhile, musician Trinh Tuan Khanh, Deputy Head of the Da Nang branch of the Viet Nam Musicians’ Association, is planning to complete the manuscript of the book entitled ‘Folk games of ethnic minority groups in Viet Nam’.
Previously, he had published a number of similar books such as 219 folk games for preschoolers, 119 games for children and 70 musical games.
This year, the majority of literary and artistic associations in the city have set the goal of organising field trips, aiming at facilitating their members to create more quality works.
Many local senior writers and poets such as Thanh Que, Nguyen Nha Tien and Ho Si Binh have also planned to release new works this year.
According to Chairman of the municipal Writers’ Association Nguyen Kim Huy, his unit plans to coordinate with districts, units and schools citywide to organize literary exchanges and poetry nights, or seminars to introduce new books.
Also this year, the association will compile and publish the anthology themed ‘Da Nang Literature in the 2018-2023 period’ to introduce portraits and selected works of members of the municipal Writers' Association, thereby contributing to enriching the city's literary anthologies.
