Meaningful experience through folk culture festival
Folk culture festivals held in March every year at many schools across Da Nang provide an opportunity for pupils to learn about the cultural features of the previous generation, and bond with their friends and teachers.

Despite being busy welcoming customers one after another to visit her class’s booth, Dao Thi Thuy Linh, a pupil of grade 9/1 at the Hai Chau District-based Le Thanh Ton Junior High School, still kept a bright smile on her lips. Linh excitedly said that, for her and other pupils, the festival was one of the most precious memories during school time.
According to Mr. Trinh Quang Long, the Headmaster of the Le Thanh Ton Junior High School, this year’s folk culture festival had ‘Vietnamese flavour’ as its theme. He added that through the event, the school wanted to help pupils more understand about the richness and diversity of Vietnamese culture, thereby contributing to promoting the good values of ancestors and building the cultural identity of Da Nang’s people.
The festival featured many exciting activities such as food stalls, and games of stick pushing, sack jumping, and walking on stilts.
“During the festival, all activities were organised in groups to help pupils understand more about the power of solidarity, teamwork, and mutual support to overcome challenges. The organisation was specifically planned early to ensure the success of the festival. The school hopes that today's memories will become beautiful memories of pupils during their school time" Mr. Long noted.
Meanwhile, the similar event at the Vo Thi Sau Primary School in Hai Chau District also brought children joy and useful knowledge through folk games such as throwing balls and rings, and 'bit mat bat de' (catching a goat while blindfolded).
Mr. Nguyen Thai Phong, the Headmaster of the school, said the festival was a good opportunity for pupils to connect more with friends, teachers and families, as well as to know more about the unique cultural features of the previous generation.
