The exhibition that features artistic photos by photographer Lam Duc Hien is a joint effort made by the museum in collaboration with the French Embassy in Viet nam and the French Institute in Da Nang.
On display at the exhibition are 28 artworks, together regarded as a series of visual memoirs, personal memories mixed with collective memories of people living by the river. The river marks as borders of territories and cultural links of lands and people.
Photographer Lam Duc Hien, whose father was Vietnamese and mother Laotian, was born in 1966 on the Mekong River side at the Pakse section in Laos. He then moved to live in France in 1977 after spending two years at a refugee camp in Thailand. During his creative life, he has won many prestigious photography awards such as Leica Award, World Press Photo Award.
To make the above-mentioned series of photos, the photographer made a journey of about 4,200 km along the Mekong River, travelling from the source in Tibet taking pictures documenting the life stories among communities living on both sides of the river. The collection features portraits and personal memories of people he met on the journey.
The exhibition aims to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Viet Nam - France strategic partnership, as well as promote a series of cultural and tourism activities in central Viet Nam.
