The host team Da Nang-Viet Nam and the JoHo Pyro Professional Fireworks team from Finland - the defending champion of DIFF 2019, will open the first performance night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2023 on June 2.

Themed ‘Peace for the World’, the opening night promises to bring impressive fireworks performances with modern and colourful effects and techniques.

Have competed in the festival for 11 years, the Da Nang-Viet Nam team has showed its significant improvement year by year.

To prepare for their opening performance tomorrow evening, the team members were facilitated to attend overseas advanced professional courses to improve their fireworks display skills.

Mr. Tran Van Hung, who is a technical manager of the Da Nang-Viet Nam team, said the team’s performance which has ‘Da Nang - The Sound of Peace’ as its theme will be divided into 3 parts and it will last 20 minutes 25 seconds.

In the combination of music, colours and the light of fireworks, the first part will bring the audience into the performance space slowly and gently as if awakening their emotions, showing the gentleness and friendliness of people of Da Nang and Viet Nam as a whole.

In the second part, the team will use vibrant music combined with special effects, helping the audience feel a modern and dynamic Da Nang which is making every effort to overcome pandemic-triggered difficulties and blend in with the current general flow of the world.

The third part will create a space of interference between music and colours, contributing to honouring the value of peace and tightening the friendship between countries worldwide.

“To prepare for the performance, we will use about 4,500 firecrackers of all kinds and over 128 different colour effects. This year, the team does not use special textures but will combine music and beautiful and unique effects to show the performance of the home team. Particularly for the last part, the team will use a lot of white colour combined with water fireworks effects" Mr. Tran Van Hung said.

Meanwhile, returning to Da Nang for the second time, the defending champion of DIFF 2019 will bring a performance entitled ‘Awaken the Heart’.

According to Mr. Johan Hollander, leader of the JoHo Pyro Professional Fireworks Team, DIFF 2023 themed ‘Light up the borderless world’ is very appropriate at this time when everyone is in the recovery phase after COVID-19.  The festival not only marks the return and recovery from the pandemic, but also shows everyone's will and desire to rise up and win the pandemic.

He revealed that the Finnish team will deliver a dynamic and emotional performance rooted in rock tunes, followed by deep emotions with the song ‘Listen to your heart’ and by joyful music, calling for unity, through the music of the song ‘Circle of life’ which is the soundtrack of the ‘The Lion king’ movie.

“Ending the performance with a melody expressing the strength of solidarity, together expressing love and peace for the world, we will balance the music throughout the performance and create different firing patterns and rhythms for each song so that the audience cannot take their eyes off the performance” he added.

However, the most important thing is still the emotion, the connection between the fireworks and the music that we will try to bring to the audience, Mr. Johan Hollander said.
