The Da Nang Open Paragliding Tournament entitled ‘Flying over Tien Sa’ officially kicked off on Saturday morning at the Tho Quang Beach, Son Tra District.

Co-hosted by the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports and the municipal Paragliding Club, this year’s event sees the participation of 120 professional male and female athletes from 17 paragliding clubs nationwide. 30 of them are from the Da Nang and Son Tra District Paragliding Clubs.

In addition, this year's tournament has paragliding teams from Laos and Thailand involved in powered paragliding performances.

The contestants compete in two events of precision landing for paragliding without engines and powered paragliding demonstrations.

Accordingly, the participating paragliders take off at the paragliding field on the Son Tra Peninsula at an altitude of 600m, and land at the Tho Quang Beach.

At the end of the tournament, the organisers will award individual and team prizes in each competition content.

The annual Da Nang Open Paragliding Tournament aims to test and evaluate the technique of Son Tra flight point and the Da Nang Paragliding Club’s ability in organising and administering the tournament. It also contributes to promoting the development of the paragliding movement in particular and the sports movement in general, as well as advertising the image of friendly and hospitable Da Nang tourism to domestic and international friends.

At the same time, it helps enrich activities in the Enjoy Danang Summer Festival 2023 entitled "Wow Da Nang".
