The authorities of My An Ward and Ngu Hanh Son District held a ceremony on Saturday evening to inaugurate the An Thuong pedestrian street and night market.

The opening programme takes place from July 15 - 17 on some roads in the An Thuong Tourist Street and surrounding areas such as An Thuong 1, An Thuong 2, An Thuong 3, An Thuong 4, a section of Hoang Ke Viem between its intersections with Vo Nguyen Giap and Le Quang Dao, and a section of Tran Bach Dang between its intersections with Do Ba and Ngo Thi Si.

My An Ward in Ngu Hanh Son District boasts great potential for trade and service development. However, tourism products and services are still limited, so they have yet to meet the entertainment, cuisine and shopping needs of tourists at night.

Therefore, to meet the needs of visitors, the An Thuong Tourist Street has been invested and upgraded in terms of urban infrastructure over the past time. The pedestrian street and night market model is piloted for one year starting from July 15, 2023.

Mr. Bach Ngoc Hai, Chairman of the People's Committee of My An Ward cum Head of the Management Board of An Thuong Tourist Street, remarked the purpose of the pilot investment in a night market in combination with a pedestrian street and activities there was to create new tourism products and services, thereby meeting the entertainment, shopping and cuisine demands of tourists and contributing to the development of tourism services of the locality and the city.

Spaces of the pedestrian street and night market are scientifically arranged, and feature selected stalls with typical products of the city and neighbouring localities.

All products are guaranteed of clear origin, food safety and hygiene, and their prices are publicly displayed. Along with that is the non-cash payment programme in order to strengthen the implementation of e-commerce activities, and modernise services in the An Thuong Tourist Street to meet the needs of locals, tourists, and businesses in the new era.

According to Mr. Ta Tu Binh, Vice Chairman of Ngu Hanh Son District People's Committee, in order for the programme to remain effective and sustainable, the People's Committee of My An Ward continues to publicise the ban on vehicles travelling on the An Thuong Tourist Pedestrian Street as well as encourage active involvement of local people and businesses in these activities.

To mark this occasion, the 1022 Public Service Switchboard and the Phenikaa MAAS Technology Joint Stock Company (Phenikaa MAAS) supported My An Ward to build digitised information about business establishments on the Bus map app, promising to bring a lot of benefits for domestic and international tourists to the An Thuong Tourist Street.

The An Thuong Night Market is located on the sidewalk of a section of Tran Bach Dang Street between its intersections with La Xuan Oai and Hoang Ke Viem. It opens from 6:00pm to 11:00pm daily.
