With the desire to create an attractive destination for visitors this summer, Da Nang continuously organises a series of fascinating events and activities to serve local residents and tourists at both home and abroad.

Increase destination competitiveness

In addition to the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2023 from June 2 - July 8, the city’s tourism sector has recently launched the festival programme 'Enjoy Danang Summer' festival programme 2023 entitled 'Wow Da Nang' which is scheduled to take place from July 28 - August 1.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Quynh, General Director of the Furama Resort Danang, acknowledged that, after a long time being affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the city has organised many events this summer.

Statistics released by the municipal Department of Tourism show that visitor numbers to the city in the first half of the year hit more than 3.5 million, an increase of 116.6 % over the same period in 2022. This once again affirmed the city’s brand of ‘Asia's Leading Festival and Event Destination 2022’.

Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Ho Thanh Tu, General Secretary of the Da Nang Tourism Association, said that the continuous activities will be one of the advantages to help Da Nang increase its competitiveness with neighbouring localities.

To lure more visitors, as soon as the launching of the 'Enjoy Danang Summer 2023 - Wow Da Nang’ programe, local travel agencies offer product packages, including the addition of the festival's activities in their tours to increase the experience for tourists when coming to Da Nang.

Additionally, the city’s Tourism Association will focus on advertising new and unique tourism products in the mass media and on social networking sites. Moreover, it will pay special attention to improving the quality of human resources in the tourism industry to serve tourists not only this summer but also in the long run.

Forming a chain of events and festivals

Information from the Department of Tourism shows that the ‘Enjoy Da Nang Summer’ festival 2023 entitled ‘Wow Da Nang’ will have 11 activities.

Prominent among them will be a musical party on the evening of July 28 at the East Sea Park with the participation of more than 5,000 guests, gathering many famous singers and artistes; and the ‘Viet Nam - International Food Festival’ (expected to take place from July 28 to August 1) to feature more than 50 stalls of local, regional and international cuisine. 

Furthermore, there will be artistic kite festival (from July 28 - 30), the 'Flying over the silver sea' open paragliding tournament on Son Tra Peninsula (July 29 and 30), a zumba flashmob performance (July 30), kid bikini flashmob performance (July 28), and other exciting activities to be held at the Ha Khe Marine Park, Xuan Ha Ward, Thanh Khe District.

Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong said that over the past time, major tourism events in the city such as DIFF 2023 have significantly contributed to attracting a large number of tourists to Da Nang and bringing a vibrant atmosphere to the city. With the desire to attract more visitors, the city continues to organise a series of events to meet the increasing demand of visitors.

In addition to the city-hosted tourism activities, tourist attractions in the city, including the Sun World Ba Na Hills, Than Tai Hot Spring Park and Da Nang Mikazuki Japanese Resorts & Spa, have been making every effort to refresh their products and services, and enhance their quality in a bid to attract more tourists.

By organising numerous events and festivals, the tourism industry lures more domestic and international tourists to the city, thereby making Da Nang truly become a city of events and festivals.
