Winners of drawing and writing contest about Japan announced

A closing and awards ceremony for a writing and painting contest to promote Japan-Viet Nam friendship took place in Da Nang on Saturday.

As part of a series of activities to celebrate the 50th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam - Japan diplomatic ties, the event was jointly organised by the Union of Friendship Organisations, the city branch of the Viet Nam - Japan Friendship Association, the Consulate General of Japan in Da Nang, the Department of Education and Training, and the Hai Chau District authoritiy.

In his remarks at the event, municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong affirmed that the cultural similarities, historical connection, and friendship between the peoples, and the sharing of many common interests, have contributed to deepening the close ties between Viet Nam and Japan.

Till date, Da Nang has established friendship and cooperation relations with Japanese localities of Kawasaki, Sakai, Yokohama and Kisarazu. Japan is the leading country in terms of registered investment capital in the city with more than US$1 billion for 222 projects, accounting for 23.5% of the number of projects and 26% of foreign investment capital in Da Nang.

Over recent years, Da Nang has worked with the Japanese Consulate General in Da Nang and Japanese partners and friends to organise many meaningful activities in order to contribute to foster the friendship and cooperation between Japan and Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole.

Mr. Cuong took the opportunity to express his hope that the friendship and cooperation relationship between Viet Nam and Japan in general, and between Da Nang and Japanese localities in particular, would be further strengthened in the coming time.

The drawing and writing contest about Japan themed ‘Da Nang pupils join hands to promote the Viet Nam - Japan friendship’ was launched in the city from March 30 - May 30.

The contest’s organisers received 832 drawings and 45 writings from primary, and junior and senior high schoolers citywide.

As a result, there were 3 First, 12 Second, 15 Third and 28 Consolation prizes in the drawing category. As for the writing category, there were 2 First, 5 Second, 11 Third and 15 Consolation prizes.
