Da Nang beefs up investment into multi-functional parks, walking gardens
The Hai Chau District administration is pouring more than VND 15 billion into the construction of four new multi-functional parks and walking gardens with a wide range of utilities to meet the growing public needs of entertainment, fitness, sports and cultural and community-based activities, of which two have been put into use to serve the public to mark this year’s National Day (September 2).

Over recent days, many people living on the busy streets of Ong Ich Khiem, Thanh Thuy and Thanh Hai have flocked to the freshly-upgraded park of Thanh Binh Ward, Hai Chau District for strolls, physical exercise and sports.
People find it interesting when spend relaxing time at this newly-renovated park as it feels like being in an outdoor arena or theatre with a tall stage in the northeast corner of the park. The playground combines sports competitions in the middle and long, fan-shaped rows of monolithic stone benches to the southwest.
The improvement of the park landscape, invested by the Hai Chau District People's Committee at a total cost of more than VND 3.7 billion, highlights such items as a garden, a 2,246m2 amusement park, a multi-purpose playground, a stage, trees, lighting and watering system.
Chairman of Thanh Binh Ward People's Committee Vo Duy Lam said: “This park serves the needs of local residents in the ward for entertainment, physical training and sports. On weekends, holidays or at Tet, this place also hosts music nights, cultural performances and diversified cultural activities. The ward authorities are developing the operating regulations of the park, and will organise music nights and related activities to satisfy the community’s entertainment needs”.
The construction of a park combined with a garden and public parking at land lot A2 at the corner of Nguyen Van Linh - Hoang Dieu streets in Nam Duong Ward, next to the campus of Dinh Tho 2 Cultural House and Phuoc Ninh relic site is nearing completion.
The VND 5.29 billion project comprises of such items as yard flooring, walkways, stages, trees, technical infrastructure, water supply and drainage, and lighting systems and parking lots.
The construction work has been completed to celebrate this year’s National Day to serve locals and tourists. This site is considered to be public space that promote values of the Phuoc Ninh relic site and serve the organisation of entertainment, cultural and spiritual activities.
In addition to the two above-mentioned projects, Hai Chau District’s relevant agencies are preparing to deploy two other similar ones. Accordingly, the park and walking garden on the corner of To Huu and Hung Hoa 3 streets in Hoa Cuong Nam Ward will be developed at a capital of more than VND 2.7 billion with such items as renovating the landscape of squares, yards, stage, gardens, trees, benches, exercise and children's play areas.
In particular, new badminton courts with epoxy material floors, colourful dividing lines and new parking bays, fitness equipment, badminton courts will take the shape.
In a similar vein, another park on Le Ba Trinh Street, Hoa Cuong Bac Ward, Hai Chau District will be developed with more than VND 3.23 billion worth of capital. The new development is initially designed with a walking garden, a 2-storey book café, a badminton court and functional areas.
Work on these two parks will reach completion by the end of 2023.
