The 2024 Da Nang International Marathon will take place at the East Sea Park on March 24 instead of August as usual. The change in tournament time is to ensure favourable weather conditions and facilitate participating runners to experience stunning beaches in Da Nang. Currently, the competition attracts a large number of athletes to register.

Co-organised by the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports and Pulse Trading and Production Co., Ltd., the Da Nang International Marathon is one of the can't-miss prestigious competitions for athletes who are passionate about running.

Organised for the first time in 2013, the race aims to spread an active, healthy lifestyle to local people through jogging, and make Da Nang an annual destination for sports lovers in general, and runners in particular.

Every year, the competition welcomes thousands of domestic and international runners who can conquer coastal running routes and explore the beauty of Da Nang.

This year’s event is expected to attract 9,000 domestic and international professional and non-professional athletes.

Participating runners will have the opportunity to run across the city's iconic bridges; enjoy peaceful sunrises and stunning landscapes; and experience the local culture, vibrant atmosphere, unique cuisine, and the friendliness of local people.

Runners will compete in a 42 km full marathon, a 21 km half marathon, a 10km run, and a 5km run, plus a 1.5km Ronny Dash run for kids aged between 3 and 10.

From the success of previous competition, after the competition registration portal at www.rundanang.com opened, the competition received great attention from the running community.

Mr. Phan Nhat Quan, a resident of Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, said he registered to compete in the 42 km full marathon. To prepare for the tournament, he practiced two sessions per day. He hoped to continue to have interesting and useful experiences at this competition.

Sharing the same excitement, Mr. Nguyen Hai Long, residing in Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District, shared "I am passionate about running, so I have joined the Danang Runner Group for 5 years. I have participated in all running events in the city, especially the Da Nang International Marathon. The large-scale competition is methodically organised with attractive prizes, so you can't miss it. Along with me, many members of the Danang Runner Group have registered to the competition, and are ready to conquer upcoming challenges".

In 2023, the competition changed the running route for the first time in the category of a 42km full marathon, giving athletes a full experience of the beauty of Da Nang.

This year, runners will continue to have the opportunity to run through the two most beautiful coastal routes in the city, namely Vo Nguyen Giap and Nguyen Tat Thanh.

The running routes of all distances were measured by international experts in May 2023 and certified as meeting standards by the Association of International Marathons (AIMS) and the World Athletics Federation (World Athletics).

To ensure the success of the forthcoming competition, the Da Nang People's Committee has assigned the municipal Department of Culture and Sports to preside and coordinate with relevant agencies and organisers to propose a good organisation of the event; survey the roadmap of competition events; and well advertise the competition at home.

The city’s police have been requested to develop plans to ensure security, order and traffic safety at the competition, as well as arrange traffic police cars to guide the Motorbike Club and Sports Bicycle Association to guide athletes during the competition.

According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Trong Thao, the organisers have ensured the best conditions for athletes.

He added the city has been making efforts to make the Da Nang International Marathon into a prestigious and professional competition, contributing to promoting the development of running movement in the city, building a healthy lifestyle for locals, and advertising a dynamic image of Da Nang.

The competition not only contributes to boost the local socio-economic development but also promotes the movement of physical training and sports in the city, signficantly contributing to raising the city's position as one of the leading cities in the central region.
