Vietnamese athletes have so far won nine tickets to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics slated from July 26 - August 11. Among them, rower Pham Thi Hue from Da Nang earns a slot at the Olympics as she has achieved high results at national and international sports tournaments.

Most recently, Hue finished in the top 5 at the women’s singles sculls final in the World Rowing Asian and Oceanian Olympic and Paralympic Qualification Regatta in the Republic of Korea.

In the national women's rowing team, Pham Thi Hue is the "oldest sister". During her career, she has grabbed a gold medal and a silver medal at SEA Games 26 in 2011; two silver medals at ASIAD in 2013; two gold medals at SEA Games 28 in 2015; a silver medal at SEA Games 30 in 2019; three gold medals at SEA Games 31; and two bronze medals at ASIAD 19 in 2023. Additionally, she has won tickets to the Olympics twice.

Pham Thi Hue's strength is her calm and brave spirit during competitions. Therefore, she has become an inspirational person for her teammates and the hope of the nation’s rowing team.

Winning a ticket to the Paris 2024 Olympics is a memorable milestone in Pham Thi Hue's career.

“The Olympics is the most prestigious arena in the world and the dream of many athletes. I am very happy and honoured to participate in the upcoming sports event. Experiencing and competing with world-class athletes is a good opportunity for me to gain experience. After returning from South Korea, I tried my best to practice every day in Hai Phong City according to the training plan of the coaching board. I want to thank the coaching staff who always create the best conditions as well as accompany and cheer for me in every tournament. I will try my best to achieve the best results at the upcoming Olympics," Pham Thi Hue remarked.

Along with Pham Thi Hue, 8 other Vietnamese athletes have won tickets to the Paris 2024 Olympics, namely Nguyen Thi That (bicycle), Trinh Thu Vinh, Le Thi Mong Tuyen (shooting), Vo Thi Kim Anh (boxing), Nguyen Huy Hoang (swimming), Trinh Van Vinh (weightlifting), Nguyen Thuy Linh (badminton), and Nguyen Thi Huong (canoeing).

Moreover, Le Duc Phat (badminton) is almost certain of his ticket to France, just waiting for official confirmation from the International Olympic Committee and World Badminton Federation.

Viet Nam has the ability to complete its goal of winning 12 - 15 spots at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Athletes involving athletics, judo, boxing, gymnastics and men's soccer will continue to compete to earn tickets for the forthcoming sports event. Among them, athletics is the sport with the most expectations.

On April 25, members of the women's 4x400m relay team including Quach Thi Lan, Nguyen Thi Hang, Nguyen Thi Ngoc, Hoang Thi Minh Hanh and Le Thi Tuyet Mai began training in Thailand in preparation for the Asian Athletics Olympic Qualifiers 2024.
