The opening night of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024 will take place on the evening of June 8 with a kickoff competition between the host team, Da Nang-Viet Nam, and the reigning champion of last year's festival, France, under the theme ‘Made of Unique Culture’.

Currently, the both teams are rushing to complete the installation of fireworks in preparation for their displays next Saturday.

As observed by our reporter, the preparatory works for the performance of the Da Nang - Viet Nam team have been basically completed.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Hung, leader of the Da Nang - Viet Nam team, said that the first show will always draw much attention of many audiences and tourists. Therefore, this is also the great motivation for his team to perfect the performance, bringing surprises to the audience on Saturday night.

With the theme of "Dance of the Sky", the home team’s fireworks display will showcase the beauty of culture and people of Da Nang, and Viet Nam as a whole. The story told by the home team will be a harmonious combination of fireworks and music, and tradition and modernity.

About 4,700 high-altitude, low-altitude and effect firecrackers, along with many techniques, will be utilized in the 21-minute-and-47-second-long show. The team will bring to the audience a truly different performance compared to previous fireworks seasons.

Meanwhile, members of France’s Arteventia fireworks team are very excited about returning to Da Nang to compete in the much awaited event.

Mr. Edouard Jean Guillaume Gregoire, leader of the Arteventia fireworks team, expressed that "We highly appreciate the rival of Da Nang-Viet Nam. As the host, the Da Nang-Viet Nam team will understand the culture and identity of the country. Therefore, we already prepared a lot of designs as well as music choices for our team's performance. At this year's DIFF, although we were defending champions, we thoughtfully and thoroughly researched the general theme of the opening night”.

Mr. Gregoire assessed that this year's theme was rich in cultural identity of Viet Nam in particular and Asia in general. Therefore, the French fireworks team will tell the story "Dance of the Dragon" with a combination of more than 5,000 fireworks and music.

The highlight of the performance will be the appearance of the Dragon image in the sky of Da Nang.

“We constantly want to return to DIFF because we feel the attraction of the city and the people of Da Nang, especially the difference in performance themes at DIFF seasons. We want to experience that difference and deliver our different performances. If you wants to know what the difference is, you should come to the opening night and enjoy our performance", Mr. Gregoire emphasised.

According to the evaluation of the competition teams, the organisation of DIFFs is increasingly professional and methodical.

Mr. Nguyen Khac Hung shared that over many years of participating in DIFFs, the organisation of the festival has become increasingly professional and thoughtful. The investment in stage, equipment, technology application, and preparation for the event are very well coordinated.

Sharing the same opinion, Mr. Gregoire highly praised the preparation of the organizing committee and consulting unit. Although the time to work and prepare was very short, the whole team received very enthusiastic support.

He expressed “Everything is great, we just need to prepare for our team's best performance”.

Ms. Nadiah Wong Binti Abdullah, Director of the Global 2000 International Company - a consulting unit for DIFF 2024, acknowledged that after 12 years of working with DIFFs, each year has its own difficulties and hardships.

As a consulting unit, Global 2000 had to find and bring the most special and unique features to Da Nang's audience, thereby increasing attraction of each competition night, she added.

At this year's DIFF, the participating teams are very strong and all desire to win, so all teams are making careful preparation. The organizing committee also strives to prepare the most thoughtful steps to bring people and tourists a brilliant fireworks season.

"DIFF is considered an attractive playground for pyrotechnic teams around the world," Ms. Nadiah affirmed.
