Honouring Vietnamese cuisine
As part of a series of culinary events entitled “A Journey through Viet Nam’s Cuisine”, an event to experience summer culinary culture with the theme “Flavours of Da Nang Sea, Vietnamese Tastes” took place at the Furama Da Nang Resort on Wednesday.

During the event, top four Vietnamese chefs, namely Do Ngoc Cong, Nguyen Danh Hinh, Doan Van Tuan and Le Xuan Tam, demonstrated creative cooking skills, and brought unique and special dishes with titles: ‘Meeting with the Sea King’ (Hai Phong-style square crab spring rolls), ‘Sons of the Ocean’ (abalone sea cucumber soup), ‘Co Loa Ancient Citadel’ (Fried Indian volute shell), and ‘Sea dragons bask in the sun’ (Grilled pipefish).
According to Chef Nguyen Danh Hinh, Vice President of the Viet Nam Chefs’ Association, Da Nang is a favourite destination for domestic and foreign tourists. “A Journey through Viet Nam’s Cuisine” is a very attractive and meaningful event in Da Nang in particular and the country in general.
He stressed the need for the city to organize more cooking competitions for chefs, in addition to culinary exchange events, so that chefs have the opportunity to interact and be more creative, thereby promote the quality of service and culinary experience.

Along with cooking skill demonstrations, the event was also an opportunity for the organisers to introduce and promote agricultural products of Da Nang’s Hoa Bac Commune and Quang Nam Province’s Tay Giang District, Nam O fish sauce (Da Nang), and A Luoi ginseng (Thua Thien Hue Province).
According to culinary culture researcher Le Tan, one of the important meaningful activities of the journey at the Furama resort Da Nang was to support and promote agricultural and rural products in the locality.
Assessing the potential of tourism associated with events honouring culinary culture, Chairman of the Da Nang Hotel Association Nguyen Duc Quynh said that events honoring culture and cuisine are one of the most effective ways to attract tourists.
According to Chairman Quynh, culinary festivals, traditional art performances, and cultural experience activities, bring unforgettable experiences to domestic and international tourists.
The development strategy that closely combines culture and cuisine not only brings economic benefits but also contributes to preserving and promoting traditional cultural values, and creating a special attraction for Da Nang in the hearts of domestic and foreign tourists.
