Over 1,500 people perform yoga in Da Nang

More than 1,500 yoga instructors, practitioners, and enthusiasts gathered at Da Nang’s East Sea Park on Sunday evening for a mass yoga performance to celebrate the 10th International Day of Yoga in 2024.

The event, themed "Yoga - For a World of Peace and Friendship", was jointly organised by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations, the city branch of the Viet Nam - India Friendship Association, and the Indian Embassy in Viet Nam.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the event, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh expressed his delight at the positive development of the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Viet Nam and India over the past decades.

He remarked the relationship between the two countries has been constantly strengthened through regular exchanges of senior leaders, and close cooperation between industries and localities of the two countries.

Mr. Vinh added that the friendly and cooperative relations between Da Nang and Indian localities have been significantly developing. Notably, three direct flights between Da Nang and Indian localities of New Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad, have been opened. India is named among the top 10 international tourist sources for Da Nang.

According to Deputy Secretary Vinh, the mass performance on the music background "Da Nang I love" contributed to advertising the image of Da Nang and local people closer to domestic and international friends.

At the same time, it enhanced cohesion, exchange, solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two countries, and introduced Indian cultural values ​​in yoga to the people of Da Nang, thereby contributing to helping Da Nang realise its orientation of becoming a hub for events and festivals at regional and international levels.

It also looked to promote a positive lifestyle, encouraging physical exercise to balance the mind and alleviate stress, while also fostering community cohesion.
