The Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF) 2024, themed “Made in Unity - Global Connection - Radiant Five Continents" officially kicked off on Saturday night. Aside from eye-catching fireworks displays in the sky of the Han River, audiences enjoyed unique artistic performances both on shore and underwater for the first time.

The special arts programme on the opening night of DIFF 2024 featured six main performances and a number of supporting performances which all were carefully prepared and choreographed by the festival’s organisers and performed by famous and professional singers and dancers at home and abroad.

Vietnamese Divo Tung Duong opened the programme with song entitled “Loi Ru Au Lac” (Au Lac’s Lullaby), whilst fly boarders, who set world records and grabbed international awards, brought the extremely impressive Jetski and Flyboard show to the audience.

The dancers on stage recreated the legend of Lac Long Quan - Au Co. Au Co then went on to give birth to a pouch filled with one hundred eggs, which hatched into a hundred sons. However, soon thereafter, Lac Long Quan and Au Co separated. Lac Long Quan went to the coast with 50 of the children, while Au Co went to the highlands with the rest. This majestic and heroic performance was like a warm welcome from Viet Nam to international friends.

Melodies and dances inmbued with French culture give the audience an extremely romantic and emotional space to enjoy art.

Following Tung Duong’s performance was a song “Da Nang Oi Bien Hat” (Da Nang, the Sea sings) by singer Le Minh Ngoc, spreading the image of a beautiful, friendly and hospitable Da Nang to visitors at both home and abroad.

Immediately after the fireworks performance by the host team Da Nang - Viet Nam, the audience enjoyed majestic melodies honouring the quintessence of Vietnamese national culture with the song “Canh Chim Phuong Hoang” (Phoenix Wings). The performance showcased the beauty of the cultures of the Central and Southern regions.

After that, singer Hong Diem and rapper Quang Dat continued to explode on stage with the Bac Ninh Quan Ho folk song performance “Qua Cau Gio Bay” which highlighted the interaction of ethnic sounds and modern art.

The opening night highlighted a competition between the host team Da Nang- Viet Nam and Team France, so the immortal love song of France "La Vie En Rose" performed by Vietnamese singer Trang Phap, and the enchanting "Cancan Dance", were indispensable, bringing an extremely romantic and emotional space to the audience.
