The ongoing Da Nang Beach Soccer and Volleyball Tournament in 2024 at the My Khe Beach is drawing much attention from local residents and tourists. The annual tournament aims to create an exciting sports competition atmosphere, spread the marine sports movement, and promote the development of tourism activities.

This year’s tournament has the participation of nearly 150 female and male athletes, competing in beach soccer and volleyball.

In particular, men's soccer and volleyball events see the participation of 7 teams, namely Hai Chau, Son Tra, Ngu Hanh Son, Thanh Khe, Cam Le, Lien Chieu and Hoa Vang. Women's volleyball event brings 4 teams of Hai Chau, Thanh Khe, Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son together.

In preparation for this year's tournament, participating teams select outstanding athletes through district-level tournaments.

Nguyen Ngoc Hoang Linh from Son Tra District women's volleyball team informed that before competing in the municipal-level beach volleyball tournament, she had won the first prize at the Son Tra District-organised beach volleyball tournament. This achievement gave her and her teammates more confidence. However, they still prepared carefully for the municipal-level sporting event because of the appearance of strong rivals.

In the men's beach volleyball event, the Hoa Vang team aims to defend the championship. However, they will face tough challenge because opponents are making efforts to aim for the top position.

According to athlete Ong Van Chuong, one of the 10 members of the Hoa Vang men's volleyball team, he and his teammates have been in strict training sessions for nearly 2 months. The players' spirit is comfortable and confident and they will make every effort in each match to concretize the championship goal. In the immediate future, the team will try to win against Ngu Hanh Son and Hai Chau in the group stage to gain ticket to enter the semi-finals.

Along with volleyball, men's soccer event promises to be exciting and dramatic because all 7 teams have made careful preparations. Among them, Son Tra, Hai Chau and Ngu Hanh Son teams are highly appreciated.

Mr. Tran Cong Tu, Director of the Da Nang Sports Centre, said that through the tournament, the city will select outstanding athletes to attend national beach soccer and volleyball championships.

He added, thanks to regularly competing in tournaments, the professional level of local players has been improved, helping the city achieve success in national level soccer and beach volleyball tournaments. Most recently, the city’s beach soccer team have claimed the championship of the 2024 national beach soccer tournament in Binh Dinh Province.

According to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Culture and Sports Nguyen Trong Thao, the municipal beach soccer and volleyball tournament lasts until July 21.

Currently, the city is gradually moving towards the goal of developing itself into the country’s marine sports centre. To achieve this goal, marine sports movements in the city are required to be vibrant and attractive with a variety of competitions and contents.

In the coming time, the city plans to host national and international-scale beach sports tournaments, contributing to promoting the development of the mass physical and sports movement in the city, and maritime tourism services.
