Talk show in Da Nang spreads values ​​in director Dang Nhat Minh's films

As part of the ongoing 2nd Da Nang Asian Film Festival in 2024 (DANAFF II), an international talk show about the creative style of Vietnamese director Dang Nhat Minh was held on Thursday.

This was one of four academic activities with highly professional elements at DANAFF II, attracting the participation of leading international and Vietnamese film experts, famous managers, artists, and actors.

During the event, discussions focused on the style, and meditation, human condition, and historical factors in director Dang Nhat Minh's films; as well as the director's contributions and dedication to the Viet Nam cinema, and his achievements in the international arena. The purpose was to promote these values ​​in the development of Vietnamese cinema in general and Da Nang's cultural industry in particular, thereby contributing to enhancing the brand and advertising DANAFF II to a large number of filmmakers and audiences at home and abroad.

Director and People's Artist Dang Nhat Minh was awarded the "Cinema Achievement" Award at the opening ceremony of DANAFF II. The first-ever award in Viet Nam aims to honour an excellent filmmaker who has made many contributions to the film industry.

Director Dang Nhat Minh has worked in film industry for more than half a century, achieving many outstanding achievements at film festivals in Viet Nam and the world with cinematic works called ‘Bao Gio Cho Den Thang Muoi’ (When October Comes), ‘Thuong Nho Dong Que’ (Missing the Countryside) and ‘Ha Noi Mua Dong 1946’ (Ha Noi winter 1946).

Dang Nhat Minh's creative style featured its sophistication, depth, and Vietnamese identity in connecting the fate of women with the fate of the country, and the human soul with the national spirituality.

He was awarded the "Ho Chi Minh Prize for Literature and Arts" in 2007. In 2022, he received “The Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters” Award from the French Ministry of Culture for his contributions in enhancing understanding between Viet Nam and France.
