Da Nang and elsewhere in the mid-central region from Quang Binh to Quang Ngai provinces are experiencing localized heavy downpour, thunderstorms, lightning and strong gusts of wind due to the influence of weak easterly cold air combined with easterly wind disturbance, the mid-central regional weather agency reported on Thursday.

The forecast indicates that rainfall in the mid-central region, including Da Nang, could range from 80 to 150mm, with some areas receiving over 250mm from October 11 - 14.

Thunderstorms can produce strong winds, lightning, hail and tornadoes, the regional forecasters warned.

Low-lying coastal areas and river mouths should be vigilant for the risk of flooding, whilst flash flood and landslide are in place for mountainous area.
