Vice Chairwoman Thi informed that Da Nang had a policy of implementing a project on placing a statue of Uncle Ho in the premises of the General Science Library in 2024-2025.

The project aims to mark the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of Da Nang (March 29, 1975 - March 29, 2025), and welcome the congresses of Party committees at all levels for the 2025-2030 term, she added.

In terms of form, the soon-to-be-placed statue will be copied from the original one displayed in the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Room at the headquarters of the Da Nang Party Committee.

The Uncle Ho’s statue at the headquarters of the Da Nang Party Committee was presented by the Central Party Office in 2005. Called "Uncle Ho sitting approving documents", it was created by artist Nguyen Van Huynh in 2002.

In terms of structure, the statue of Uncle Ho will be hand-carved on a white granite base, 2.5 meters high, placed on a 0.7 meter-high granite pedestal. The relief placed behind the statue will be made of granite, and the overall relief is assembled from 5 small pieces symbolizing the five elements with overall height of 3 meters and the length of 15.1 meters.

Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism affirmed Da Nang’s important position, adding that the placement of the statue of Uncle Ho has both political and cultural significance, meeting the aspirations of the city's government and people.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism supported the policy of placing a statue of Uncle Ho in the premises of the Da Nang General Science Library, and at the same time, assigned the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibitions to coordinate with the municipal Department of Culture and Sports and relevant agencies to urgently complete the necessary dossiers and submit them to the competent authority for approval as soon as possible.
