Spreading reading movement among pupils and soldiers
The Da Nang General Science Library in collaboration with the municipal Border Guard Command is organising a book story-telling competition and an exhibition of documents on December 19 and 20 in celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Viet Nam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024), and the 35th anniversary of the All-People Defence Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024).

The book story-telling competition had 18 teams participating, including 9 teams from primary and junior high schools in the city, and 9 teams of officers and soldiers of the municipal Border Guard.
Accordingly, the teams told stories about life skills, love for the homeland, and protecting the country's sovereignty over its sea and islands; or fairy tales, folk tales, and myths.
In addition, an exhibition featuring nearly 1,000 documents, books, newspapers, pictures and special information resources of primary and junior high schools, and border guard stations in the city, is taking place.
The events aim to help the younger generation have a full understanding of national history, and arouse national pride and self-esteem. They also contribute to building and developing reading habits, needs and skills for all subjects, especially pupils, and officers and soldiers of the border guard.
At the same time, the activities help strengthen propaganda and education on revolutionary traditions, patriotism, national pride, moral education, and lifestyle of generations, especially pupils and soldiers, through books and stories.
