A ceremony was held in Hanoi on August 24 to present 16 first prizes, 29 second prizes, and other third and consolation prizes. 28 units with large number and high quality lectures were also honoured at the event.

Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien said information technology has been applied effectively at schools in urban areas, where IT infrastructure is developed. However, most entries in the contest have failed to use IT to stimulate students’ self-study.

Since its debut in 2009, the biennial contest aims at promoting the adoption of IT in improving teaching methods, as well as building open education resources serving life-long learning and distance learning.

It also aims to facilitate the sharing of experience and coordination among the educators’ community, heading to the e-school model in Viet Nam.

The next contest for 2013-2015 will be themed “Viet Nam’s geography collection”. Entries can be sent to http://thi-baigiang.moet.gov.vn.
