A total of 228 outstanding poor students from Da Nang and the provinces of Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh and Phu Yen received Odon Vallet scholarships at an awards ceremony held at the Hermann Gmeiner School in Da Nang on Sunday afternoon.

The event was co-organised by the Rencontres du Viet Nam (Meet Viet Nam) organisation, the University of Da Nang, and the local Department of Education and Training.

In detail, 185 senior high school pupils received 7.5 million VND each, and 43 students at colleges and universities each received 12 million VND.

Funded by French professor Odon Vallet through the Meet Viet Nam organisation, the Odon Vallet scholarship programme has been running in Viet Nam for the last 11 years.
