A meeting to assess Da Nang’s project “Exploiting Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) Infrastructure Systems” was held in the city on Wednesday.  The Da Nang People's Committee Chairman, Mr Van Huu Chien, directed local relevant agencies to implement this project in the 1st quarter of 2014.

The purpose of the project is to help Da Nang develop on-site and online training programmes, as well as to promote the application of multimedia interactive learning software.  In addition, it will allow the city to conduct research into application of information technology (IT) solutions.

Under this project, the city’s government officials and employees will be provided with online training courses via 300 SCORM lesson modules which will help them improve their professional skills in State administrative management.  In addition, more online training programmes about how to apply IT and how to use IT services will also be given locally to organisations and individuals.

So far, Da Nang has launched its Information Technology and Communications Infrastructure System consisting of a MAN, a data centre, and a wifi system with 342 wi-fi transmission stations which allows simultaneous internet access for 20,000 users.  This has helped the city to enhance the effectiveness of its public transactions and economic information services.
