The central region qualifying round of the 2013 Viet Nam TI MCU Design Contest took place at the Da Nang University of Technology on Thursday.

The event saw the participation of 2 teams from Da Nang’s Duy Tan University, 16 from the city’s University of Technology, and one more from Hue University of Sciences.

Participating teams presented their research with highly-practical applications.  These included a multi-functional wheelchair control system, an automatic fire alarm system, a smart waste bin, smart electronic devices, and a smart computer keyboard and mouse for the disabled.

One first prize of 800 USD, a second of 400 USD, a third of 200 USD, a “most promising” prize of 100 USD, a “best presentation” prize of 50 USD, and an “excellent advisor” award of 300 USD will be given to winning teams.

The final round of the contest will be held at the Ho Chi Minh University of Technology in November.
