Educators, particularly professors and associate professors, play a key role in the national cause of education – increasing knowledge, improving the workforce and fostering the nation’s talent, a senior official has said.

Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) Dinh The Huynh, who chairs the PCC Commission for Education and Communications, was speaking at a ceremony held in Ha Noi  on November 18 to honour 571 newly designated professors and associate professors.

Congratulating the newly promoted educators, Huynh reminded them of their important role in accelerating the country’s industrialisation, modernisation and international integration processes. He praised the great contributions of educators to raising a young generation that is passionate about learning, innovating and doing scientific research to acquire knowledge and develop new technologies.

A total of 57 new professors and 514 new associate professors were recognised at the event, raising the country’s total to over 10,400.

Of that figure, the fields of medicine, economics, military science, chemistry and educational psychology boast the most professors. Tran Dinh Hoa, 43 and Le Anh Vinh, 30 are the youngest among this year’s class of new professors and associate professors.
