As part of the ongoing friendly visit to Da Nang by the British warship HMS Daring, a graduation ceremony for 6 Vietnamese military officers who had finished an English-language training course for peacekeeping took place on the ship on Thursday morning.  The graduates are from the Viet Nam Air Defence and Air Force, and the Marine Police.

In attendance at the event were the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the UK to Viet Nam, Dr Antony Stokes, Group Captain Tim Below of the Royal Air Force, and the Commanding Officer of HMS Daring, Angus Essenhigh.

The course was the 3rd to be held in a series of English-language courses for United Nations peacekeeping missions.  It is a part of the bilateral agreement confirmed in a Memorandum of Understanding in defence cooperation signed between Viet Nam and the UK in November 2011.  Funded by the UK Ministry of Defence and provided by the British Council, the course taught the Vietnamese defence officers the necessary English skills for use in international communications.
