The University of Da Nang (UD) celebrated its 20th birthday at its Sports and Gymnasium Centre in Lien Chieu District on Saturday morning.

Thanks to the great efforts made by its staff members over the past 2 decades, the UD has become the largest educational institution in the central region and highlands, providing multi-disciplinary training programmes.

The UD has 9 member schools.  They are the University of Technology, the University of Economics and Education, the College of Foreign Languages, the Junior Colleges of Technology and Information Technology, the Viet Nam-UK Institute for Research and Executive Education, the Medicine and Pharmacy Faculty, and the University of Da Nang - Kon Tum.

The UD now has a total of 2,303 staff members.  Three of the university’s 1,546 teaching staff members are Professors, 60 are Associate Professors, 290 are Doctors, and 939 are Masters.  Most notably, over 30% of the teaching staff at the universities of Technology and Economics and Education are Doctors.

In 2000, the UD was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister in recognition of its significant contributions to the country’s education sector, and its industrialisation and modernisation process.  The university also received a first-class Labour Medal in 2004 and a third-class Independent Medal from the State President in 2010.
