Fifty-nine local students win medals at 30 April Olympiad

Fifty-nine senior high school pupils from Da Nang won medals at the 21st annual 30 April Olympiad for Year 10 and 11 students in the southern region.  This information was revealed yesterday by the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Education and Training cum Headmaster of the city’s Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students, Mr Nguyen Dinh Vinh.

This year, a total of 118 local senior high school pupils took part in the contest, 59 from Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students with the remainder from Phan Chau Trinh Senior High School.  Le Quy Don received 21 gold, 19 silver and 10 bronze medals.  Phan Chau Trinh finished with 3 gold, 1 silver and 5 bronze.

This year’s contest was held from 3 - 5 April at Ho Chi Minh City’s Le Hong Phong Senior High School for Gifted Students.  The event attracted a total of around 2,500 entrants from 64 senior high schools in the southern and central regions, along with the highlands.  They competed in Mathematics, Literature, History, Geography, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Informatics, English and French.
