Last Friday, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan warmly received a group of Information Technology and Communications (ITC) experts from Sweden's Ericsson Group.  The visiting guests were led by Mr Anders Smedberg, the Director of the Group’s ITC Department for the Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar Region, and Dr Hakan Ohlsen, the Director of the Spectrum and Radio Technology Strategy in the Ericsson Group Function Technology.  

Their visit aimed to further bilateral cooperation between the Ericsson Group and the city, with a focus on promoting ITC applications for building Da Nang into a smarter city.

The Swedish guests said that recent years have seen a dramatic increase in Da Nang’s  information technology applications, which proved their vital role in boosting local progress.  Ericsson, a world-leading provider of communications technology and related services, is willing to cooperate with the city in such aspects as telecommunications, public services, transportation and social welfare.

In reply, Vice Chairman Tuan said that the local authorities would support the Group in conducting its research and applying its new inventions and technologies in order to develop Da Nang into a smarter city.  He added that the focus should be on local priority aspects such as transportation, healthcare, water, food and the environment.
