Over recent years, Hai Chau District’s education and training sector has made many significant achievements in increasing the intellectual standards of local residents and develop future talent for the city.

Over the past 5 years, the focus has been on improving educational facilities across the district and effectively implementing the national “Child-friendly Schools and Active Pupils” emulation campaign.  The quality of local training programmes has been improved comprehensively, especially the training courses on the ethical standards and necessary life skills for local pupils.  In particular, the district has seen a significant decrease in the number of pupils dropping out of schools.

Tran Van On Primary School came second in the primary school category of the 2014 Da Nang Newspaper Football Tournament.

In recent years, over 99% of the district’s junior high school pupils passed their graduation exams, and over 80% of the pupils have been eligible for enrolling at local public senior high schools.  Most notably, about 40 pupils across the district have been admitted to the Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students.  Local junior high school pupils every year win over 400 prizes in municipal and national-level contests for excellent pupils, including the Vi-Olympic Internet-based Maths Competition and the Contest for Using Pocket Calculators to Handle Maths Problems.

In the 2013-2014 academic year, Year 5 pupil Ho Le Minh Diep from Phan Thanh Primary School won the special prize in the “Talents of the English Language” contest held by the Ministry of Education and Training.  In addition, a total of 4 pupils from the Tran Van On and Phan Thanh primary schools received prizes in the online Maths Competition and ‘Maths for Kids’ contest, both of which were held by the Ministry.

Apart from improving the quality of academic courses, special attention has been paid to developing physical education for local pupils.  Sports clubs have been established in most of the local schools in order to train talent to compete in municipal and district-level sporting events.

Most notably, since 2007, the district’s education and training sector has secured top position at the municipal-level Phu Dong Sports Festival.  In the last 2 years, the district has taken first and second prizes at municipal-level football tournaments.
