42 pupils receive Huynh Thuc Khang Talent Encouragement Awards

Forty-two outstanding pupils in Da Nang during the 2014 - 2015 academic year were honoured at the 17th Huynh Thuc Khang Talent Encouragement Awards Ceremony last Saturday.  The event was jointly organised by the city’s Study Encouragement Association and the municipal Department of Education and Training.

The award-winners were pupils from years 9 and 12, and those who had won prizes in international competitions.  They received a total of nearly 100 million VND in cash.

Amongst the honourees was Le Thi Nguyet Hang, the 18-year-old pupil from Da Nang’s Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students who won silver medals at the 25th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) held in Bali, Indonesia last year and at the 26th IBO in Denmark this month.

The Huynh Thuc Khang Talent Encouragement Awards were initiated by the city’s Study Encouragement Association in 1998.  Over the past 17 years, 484 local pupils have received a total of over 750 million VND in cash.
