IBO silver medallist welcomed home
On Wednesday, Le Thi Nguyet Hang, the 18-year-old pupil of Da Nang’s Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students, received a warm welcome home at the Da Nang International Airport from representatives of the municipal Department of Education and Training, her teachers, friends and family members.
Hang won a silver medal at the 26th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) which took place in Denmark from 12 - 19 July.

The Deputy Director of the Department and Headmaster of the school, Mr Nguyen Dinh Vinh, said that Hang had achieved outstanding study results over the past 3 academic years. In Year 10, she was placed first in the municipal-level biology competition. In Year 11, she was one of the school’s excellent pupils, and she won second prize at the national biology contest and a silver medal at the 25th IBO held in Bali, Indonesia last year. In Year 12, the talented pupil received the first prize in the municipal-level biology competition.
Hang was one of 4 Vietnamese pupils competing in this year’s international IBO competition. Between them, they won one silver, 2 bronze medals and a consolation prize.
