At talks between Son and the RoK’s Minister of Government Administration and Home Affairs Chong Jong-sup, the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding on e-government cooperation and agreed to maintain the operation of the joint cooperation committee on informatics.

Minister Chong Jong-sup said the RoK has topped the world for many consecutive years in terms of the e-government development index of the United Nations. The country has completed the building of an e-governmental system linking ministries, government and localities.

The RoK is willing to share experience in building national database and how to utilize and manage these information sources, and suggest measures to build smart cities, he said.

The Vietnamese official also held talks with RoK’s Minister of Science, Information Communications Technology, and Future Planning Choi Yang-hee, during which they agreed to encourage IT and telecom businesses to increase information exchange and seek cooperation opportunities in human resources training, education, and information security.

After the talks, the two ministers inked a new Memorandum of Understanding on comprehensive cooperation in science, technology and communications between Viet Nam and the RoK.

The officials agreed to establish a joint committee on implementing commitments in the agreement.
