A ceremony took place in Da Nang on Monday to honour Le Thi Nguyet Hang, a Year 12 student from the city’s Le Quy Don Senior High School for Gifted Students.  Hang won a silver medal at the 26^th International Biology Olympiad (IBO) which took place in Denmark from 12 - 19 July.

Hang received a Certificate of Merit from the municipal People’s Committee Chairman in recognition of her notable award, and was given a reward of 25 million VND in cash.

Addressing the event, People’s Committee Vice Chairman Dang Viet Dung took the opportunity to encourage the honouree to make even greater efforts for the city’s progress.

In addition, Vice Chairman Dung urged the city’s education and training sector, and the Le Quy Don Senior High School, to continue their efforts to improve the quality of the school’s training programmes and enhance the professional skills of their teachers. 

The focus should be on helping local high school pupils to adapt well into the international education environment by increasing the number of local participants in international competitions and bringing home notable awards.
