National conference on nuclear energy
The 11th National Conference on Nuclear Science and Technology is taking place at the Eden Plaza Danang Hotel between 5 and 7 August, jointly organised by the Viet Nam Atomic Energy Society and the Atomic Energy Institute under the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The event is being attended by over 300 invited domestic guests and over 50 professors, scientists and experts from foreign countries where advanced nuclear technology has been successfully developed, including the USA, Russia, Japan, the UK, France, South Korea, Sweden and Slovakia.

The conference aims to provide a chance for the domestic and foreign experts to present the results of recent scientific research into nuclear energy and share their experiences in order to promote nuclear energy applications to further Viet Nam’s socio-economic development.
Discussions will cover effective ways to develop a master plan for implementing the strategies for fostering nuclear electricity development and enhancing nuclear energy applications for peaceful purposes in Viet Nam towards 2020 which were approved by the Prime Minister in 2010.
A total of 216 reports will be presented by the participants about furthering technological development to increase the application of radiation, radioisotopes and nuclear electricity, and ensure nuclear safety. The reports will also feature nuclear energy applications in environmental protection, boosting the capacity for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, developing hybrid rice, and creating new technological products and technical services in order to accelerate the country’s nuclear power industry.
