New software to manage local water resources
A seminar to discuss the application in Da Nang of the Water Evaluation and Planning System (WEAP) recently took place at the office of the city's Steering Committee for Response to Climate Change and Sea Level Rises.
The WEAP is a user-friendly software tool that takes an integrated approach to water resource planning. Developed in 1988 by the Stockholm Environmental Institute's Boston Centre at the Tellus Institute, the WEAP aims to provide a system for maintaining water supply and demand information.
The software evaluates a full range of water development and management options, and takes account of multiple and competing uses of water.
Currently, the WEAP is being used in the city to assess the present status of local water supplies and to forecast the future use of local water resources.
