Nobel laureate to chair exchange at Ho Chi Minh City university
American physicist and Nobel laureate Prof. George F. Smoot III will host an exchange with students and instructors in Ho Chi Minh City later this month.
The event, which will be organized on August 20 at the Viet Nam National University-Ho Chi Minh City, welcomes all students and instructors from high schools, colleges and universities in the city and neighboring regions.
At the event, Prof. Smoot, who won the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2006, will present the history of the universe, provide images of the embryo of the cosmos, summarize the status of the universe based on experimental observations and talk about the challenging issues that the universes is facing.

The exchange, jointly held by the Viet Nam National University-Ho Chi Minh City and the Meet Viet Nam Organization, will provide scientific knowledge and give participants the chance to be inspired on their journey of science.

As planned, participants will be picked up by a bus from Turtle Lake in District 1 at 12:20 on August 20 to be taken to the exchange venue, and will visit the National University-Ho Chi Minh City later.
The professor is in Viet Nam to join international scientific conferences on physics, as well as workshops on astrophysics and particle physics, lasting from July 19 to August 22, in the south-central province of Binh Dinh.
