In detail, the 2014-2015 academic year saw positive results in evaluating primary school pupils’ study results, reforming the content of textbooks, enhancing the ethical standards of pupils and improving the quality of educational programmes.   To date, 2,410 private schools and kindergartens have been established across the country.

Most notably, the 2015 national senior high school graduation exams, which took place last month, proved to be effective because it helped candidates save time and money.  The results from the exams were used as the basis for recognition of their senior high school graduation, and also for college and university entrance admission.  This year’s senior high school graduation rate reached 91.58% according to the latest report from the Ministry of Education and Training.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam stressed the need to resolve some issues of deep concern, including the shortage of educational facilities and equipment in some localities, helping pupils improve their ethical standards and essential life skills, as well as the rampant private tutoring services and the inefficiency of collections and spending.

With regard to the tasks for the next academic year, the focus will be on renewing educational and training management, teaching methods and the assessment of primary and secondary education quality, and appealing for more donations from individuals and organisations to improve the quality of national education.  Greater efforts will be made to implement the national foreign languages teaching programme and the central government’s project for supporting private day-care centres for children in industrial parks (IPs) and export processing zones.

Special heed will be paid to remedying any shortcomings in preparing, organising and invigilating national senior high school graduation exams, marking exam papers, announcing candidates’ results, and handling related admission procedures.  In addition, suitable adjustments to the schedules of the exams in the coming years will be made.

Also at the online meeting, the Department of Education and Training in 25 localities nationwide received emulation flags from the Ministry of Education and Training in recognition of their remarkable achievements over the past academic year.  38 other localities was presented with Certificates of Merit from the Ministry.
