A discussion took place in the city on Wednesday about the preparations for the 15^th ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology (IT) Ministers' Meeting (ASEAN TELMIN 15) which will be held in Da Nang from 23 - 27 November.

At the meeting, representatives from the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications rechecked the city’s preparatory plans to ensure local social security, healthcare services and reception activities during the event.  A detailed plan to increase publicity about ASEAN TELMIN 15 in the nationwide mass media was also presented. 

Meanwhile, representatives from Da Nang’s relevant agencies urged the Ministry to issue a detailed programme of the forthcoming international event in order to help the city ensure best preparations.

This year’s event will have ‘Towards an ASEAN Community in a Comprehensive, Safe and Sustainable Development Manner from the Basis of a Digital Platform’ as its theme.  It will be attended by a total of 300 Vietnamese delegates and others from the 10 ASEAN member nations, partner countries, the International Telecommunications Union, and the European Union.

Within the framework of the main event, the ASEAN Telecommunications and IT Senior Officials Meeting will be held from 23 - 25 November, and the Ministers’ meeting will run from 26 - 27 November.

TELMIN was formed as a result of a decision to create stronger regional ties within the telecommunications fraternity within ASEAN.  It is scheduled to be held annually and will rotate amongst the ASEAN member nations in alphabetical order.
