The awards ceremony for central region contestants in the recent Vi-Olympic Internet-based maths competition for the 2015 - 2016 academic year took place in Da Nang last Saturday. 

The competition was jointly organised by FPT Corporation and its university under instructions from the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training. 

This year’s event attracted a total of 8 million school pupils at all levels from across the country, including 2 million contestants who completed their tests in English. 

Amongst the over 2,100 nationwide award winners, 559 were from the central region.

This is the 8^th year that the competition has been organised in Viet Nam.  It aims to encourage school pupils at all levels to develop their passion for mathematics, and to help them access new educational methods in the era of digital technology.
