The Da Nang People’s Committee recently approved the specific study schedules to be applied to the city’s schools and local centres for continuing education over the 2016-2017 academic year.

The academic year will officially begin on 1 September this year, and it will end on 31 May next year.  Local pupils will have at least 7 days off their studies for the 2017 Tet festival.

The length of the study period at local pre-schools and primary schools will be at least 35 weeks, whilst at least 37 weeks are set for junior and senior high schools, and at least 32 weeks for continuing education centres.

On Thursday, Department of Education and Training Director Nguyen Dinh Vinh urged local schools to take stronger measures to ensure pupils’ safety by encouraging participation in their learn to swim courses.

The schedules of these courses will be publicly displayed, and their hotlines should be offered visually.  Also, swimming teachers and those involved in the courses will have to strictly comply with the courses’ regulations.

Special heed will be paid to checking the attendance of the trainees before and after the courses.
