The annual event is held alternately in all regions of the world.

This year’s forum reviewed ITU standardisation activities which have been implemented over the past 12 years.  In addition, discussions focussed on effective procedures and ways to negotiate and build consensus at the World Telecommunications Standardisation Assembly (WTSA).

The 4th Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) Preparatory Group for the World Telecommunications Standardisation Assembly 2016 (WTSA16-4) is being held from 23 - 26 August at the same venue in Da Nang.

WTSA is held every 4 years and defines the study for the ITU-Telecommunications Standardisation Sector in the years ahead.   The intention is to discuss the latest telecommunications standardisation in line with the actual development needs to ensure global compatibility and promote public access to telecommunications services.

The 2 international events have been jointly organised by the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications, ITU, and APT.  A total of around 120 APT members and partners attended the events, along with those from international and regional organisations who registered online through the APT website.
