A conference entitled ‘A Comparative Study of University Governance in Viet Nam and the UK’ recently took place at the University of Da Nang.

The event was jointly organised by the city-based Viet Nam-UK Research and Training Institute, the British Council, and the UK universities of Southampton and Essex.  The intention was to provide Vietnamese educational managers and researchers with useful information on university governance.  This will, in turn, help them to offer recommendations for the development of this in Viet Nam in line with the global trend.

In particular, summary reports on the study and the reality of university governance in the UK and Viet Nam were presented at the event.  In addition, there were discussions about how to move university governance towards autonomy and the challenges for Vietnamese educational institutes.
